This scale is advertised for those with high volume oversized postage needs, but I've found it to be essential for accurate weighing of my soapmaking materials as well. It's lightweight, easily portable, and is able to handle a 44 Lb (20kg) capacity for those large batches of soap, as well as those small calculations that make a difference between a successful and failed batch of soap (measures in .1 oz. increments). Unless you're making 1,000+ bars per day, this scale will more than accomodate your needs for weighing oils, lye solutions, additives, etc.

  • The Keso has a "Tare" function which allows you to subtract the weight of your container before you add the contents that need to be weighed.

There are scales out there that you can get for less, but you can only weigh about 11 lbs. with them and they're not nearly as sturdy.
I made the mistake of buying one a cheaper scale first, and then quickly realized that you can't even weigh a small wholesale order without going over the weight limit. (Needless to say I wasted about $35 bucks and had to get one of the Keso's anyway!)
